I did the BCP morning office just now. We're starting into two new books today, Ruth and 1 Corinthians. It's been awhile since I read either of these texts, so I'm excited to follow them for awhile.

I read 2Samuel 7-9 - David's story - and 2 Peter this morning. This verse always strikes me deeply with all it's implications and truths: "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." - 2Peter 1:3

I was reading Psalm 127 today! It was a great reminder that only things that are done with God are worth doing and going to be completed as planned. Also a huge verse about getting enough sleep--how God has given us all the time we need...so using Him as an excuse or any excuse to stay up too late...is not from Him, but our own stuff. Eugene Peterson had some great commentary to go along with the verse also.

I did the BCP this morning - already loving Ruth. I actually did 3/4 of the prayers yesterday. Hoping to do even better today.

Beth, I too am reading 2 Samuel and studying David's life. Today I learned how much David trusted in God and prayed to Him for his strength. In contrast, even though I pray, I find myself still trying to control situations rather than fully turning them over to God. As I wait for Him to guide me, I create my own path! How foolish that can be. How difficult to "release" everything over. I had to rank myself in areas where I had control issues. The one thing that was good was there was a huge difference between now and 6 months ago. While I have a long way to go, I am trusting and turning to God for wisdom more often than trying to create my own. I am anxious to see how the rest of David's story is going to help me grow!

Started the lectionary for Lent. Loving it already. Psalm 32 really touched me today. I need to return to it and spend some time meditating on it.

Hi friends, I went to a Eucharist service at an Anglican church last night. This was a little part of one of their prayers that they prayed corporately before the service got under way….thought it was sweet and wanted to share it:

“Come to the table not because you must, but because you may.
Come, not because you are strong, but because you are weak.
Come because you need strength and help.
Come because you love the Lord a little and want to love him more.
And come because he loves you, and gave himself for you.”

I've been doing pretty good on my weekly prayer rhythm this week. I have been trying to read Psalm 4 every night as a part of my evening prayer. These words have been good to hear before I go to sleep.

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed about March. Lot's of stuff going on. Good stuff, just a lot of it. I have a few big school assignments due that I am trying to get done before I leave for Mississippi. This happens every semester so I know I'll get through it. I just need to be reminded that these assignments aren't my life. My life is Jesus and all of my relationships in Him.

Enjoyed some rich time with the lectionary readings this morning. Also, did a great bible study on psalm 127.
