Hey Friends!

I did the BCP hours this morning. I was lousy at keeping the hours this past weekend. My routine is too stagnant & does not leak out into the rest of my day the way it has for the past few years. It's a little wierd to think about this because praying the hours has been such a staple for me in my Rule of Life. It's been 5-6 years that I've been doing this and it's a big deal to think of changing that up.

Then I remembered that Lent is coming. That means that I will purposefully change my routine to match with Lent. It makes me think that the Church Calendar is genius, because right when I need a change, one is coming on the calendar. Freaky...

I did the BCP hours this morning. Yesterday I did 2 out of 4 offices. In today's morning office there was the wierdest passage - 1 Tim. 1:18-2:8 - where Paul talks about being shipwrecked in the faith and says he's handed these two guys over to Satan, so they can learn how not to blaspheme. I've never noticed that verse before. It just struck me as odd that Paul would use that language - handing someone over to Satan - for admonishment or church discipline.

This last week, I got bogged down with other things and didn't spend a lot of time in my Bible. However, I read that when you are short on time, to listen to worship music, pray and take little time outs for God. So, I did that. It felt better than doing nothing. I reflected a lot on what I was hearing in the music and spent some one-on-one time in prayer. My goal this week is to get back into my study.

Went through Matthew 22:37-39The Greatest Commandment...always refreshing and a great reminder. I love meditating on the words of Jesus.

I did the BCP hours this morning. It was the best morning prayer I've had in awhile. The Scripture readings are really good right now. I was thinking about Lent and got excited that soon many more people in our congregation will be reading along with the daily readings.

I did the BCP morning office just now. It was actualy a good time in God's presence. I needed that because I had been feeling a little dry about it lately. Yesterday I did 3/4 offices and I did some prayer when I woke up this morning. I'm sure that is why the office had a little more life for me this morning. It's strange how that happens, and how it surprises me every time.

I'm reading in 2 Samuel and 1 Peter this week. Meeting with God in the mornings as usual.

I did the BCP hours this morning. I'm hopeful that I'll stop and pray the liturgy 4 times today. Yesterday I did only the morning - the day got away from me from there.

I'm starting to look forward to Lent and thinking about what new sort of routine I might engage in. I'm going to try not to add a bunch, but just shake things up a little bit. My routine needs a shake up.

I didn't stick to my normal rule this week. However, I did do a daily exercise in which I attempted to become more aware of the presence of the eight deadly thoughts (see link below) in my life. We talked about this in one of the classes I am taking right now.
