I did the BCP hours this morning. I'm doing office hours at Scooter's today and it's going to take some time before I figure out how to pray in that environment...a new space always means an adjustment.

"Quiet" time wasn't very quiet this morning...lots of interruptions. Continuing to read in Nehemiah. I was struck by the fact that once everyone was settled in Jerusalem again and the wall was finished, the Israelites took time to read the Word of God, celebrate, and then confessed their sins and the sins of their fathers.

Also read Jesus' prayer for the disciples and the believers in John 17. Tried to really contemplate what Jesus felt was important to ask of the Father on our behalf. He asks for unity, "that all of them may be one." I can't help but think that God might be sifting our body right now, that we may be one. Like-minded. Moving in one accord for His purposes and glory. Our retreat this weekend was certainly evidence of His work to that end!

I did the BCP hours this morning. The OT reading was about the queen of Sheba - which always makes me laugh because that's what my mom would call my sister's when they were acting haughty. The James reading was about being a teacher...yikes. The stakes are high.

I've been trying to weave the Celtic Daily Prayer book into my day with the daily office evening prayer and complines being the most consistent. Today I managed to do the midday prayer and have the desire and think it possible to make this work while homeschooling. What I really enjoy about this book are the daily readings which take the reader through the beginnings of the Northumbria community and include a daily Psalm, OT,a NT reading.
