I did the BCP hours early this morning before staff meeting. It was really great. The Leviticus reading (usually not my book of choice for devotional reading), was all about the "kinsman redeemer" concept and how the children of Israel could buy back those who were impoverished among their people. It connected this directly to the jubilee year and the idea that wealth wasn't ever meant to concentrate in the hands of a few people. It is this same language that is taken up later by Jesus' disciples as they tried to grapple with the meaning of the cross - they used the language of the kinsman redeemer. I had a blast (unexpected) in Leviticus for awhile this morning & I'm looking forward to being with you guys at staff mtg.

Peace,

okay, I have totally slacked this week. I have been reading the compline prayers but that is it! Ken has been gone so I am a little out of sync, not that it's an excuse by any means.

However, Skylee and I did get to watch a capterpillar in motion create its chrysalide! That was pretty amazing. I have always understood the caterpiller change into the butterfly as it relates to life with Christ and that transformation but to acutally watch a little caterpillar eat then grow, then eat then grow then form this chrysalide and transform into something much more beautful then it started out from...the whole concept is so much more tangible.

I did the BCP hours this morning. It really took discipline to do it because I was already starting in on work. But I stopped and took a deep, long breath, lit some candles, put on some music and did the office. It was really nice. I'm so glad I did it. There is a sense of accomplishment or maybe a satisfaction of obedience that comes along with faithful observance of the hours. It's not pride in accomplishment, it's more like the satisfaction you get when you are patient with your children.

I'm leaning on Jesus today to give me strength to focus on my tasks and to work hard all day. Please pray for me that I'll have a good day and not waste any time.

Peace,

-tim

I had a good time of prayer this morning. I did the Divine Hours a 9 today. I held on to some prayer beads I brought home from the Vatican City (I know they are probably made in China like everything else but still). I guess because I'm tactile, having something to hold on to adds meaning, especially prayer beads!

I’m also reading 1 Corinthians. I am trying to hit the bible in the long gap between the 9:00 office and the 2:00. I make my kids go to their rooms for some quiet reading time too so I can accomplish this, I’ve been successful about half the time.

....miss you Kerrie...

Hi I'm back! Sorry, I did not have access to a computer while away. It was an amazing week. I had some amazing worship that just filled my tank. I get so connected to Jesus through worship. So, much learned! It was amazing to see my team react and learn how important they are in helping kids know Jesus. Again the parable of the sower came up, I just keep returning to this verse. Glad to be back

I've been reading proverbs today and yesterday. I'm feeling very tired, so they are easy and rich. Kerrie
