I did the BCP hours this morning. I'm feeling the presence of God in the 4 times daily prayers these days. It feels good to me & I am grateful this morning to be a child of God.

I prayed the morning office from the BCP just now. There is an interesting play going on in the lectionary between king Saul in the OT and Saul of Tarsus in the NT. Yesterday I did 3/4 offices - I'm still not in the routine of observing Compline.

Peace,

I didn't do very well on prayers yesterday. I did the morning office and had great conversation at staff meeting and over lunch...I think after 4 hours of spiritual conversation, I had no energy to pray, which is lame. Those are the times when the office is most important.

As I am reflecting on the day yesterday, I think my analogy would be a really hard workout. It's in the final 25% of the workout that you are doing your best work (in terms of building muscle strength, endurance, speed, etc.) But if you push up to the last 25% and stop w/out doing it, it's a missed opportunity. I missed an opportunity yesterday to be disciplined to read/pray and mark the day according to prayer instead of my own agenda.

Yet another reminder that we are always but mere beginners at this spiritual life.

I prayed the morning office from the BCP this morning. I'm hopeful that I will be able to order my day according to prayer on this day. I pray that God is meeting each of you where you are, pouring out his love and grace to you all.

peace,
