I did the BCP morning office just now. Daylight savings rocks, I was up early and felt pretty good! Here's hoping I can continue being an hour ahead on my sleep schedule...

I read the first chapter of Ephesians last night. Also, I have spent a great deal of time in prayer lately.

On another note: I brought a distant friend to church yesterday. When she arrived, I realized how nervous I was--not because I was worried but because I wanted her to LOVE this church as much as I do. I found myself feeling as if I was inviting someone into my home for the first time. I hadn't ever felt that way before about a visitor coming to our church. I wanted her to feel a part of our family and I haven't seen her in over 20 years! (gotta love FB). I was able to learn a little bit more about her too, as she shared pieces of herself. It was neat to reconnect. Anyway, I wanted to share those feelings with you all. I love you and it became apparent how much when I was walking the halls, showing off our church and introducing all of you to her.

BTW, she did indeed like it. She emailed me later and said she could tell it was a special place and she wants to bring her family back to check it out.

Just had a very cool encounter with God through His people! Great evening discussing Ephesians 1 with a our community group. So cool...they are hungry!:)

I keep asking that You, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that we may know You better. I pray also that the eyes of our hearts may be enlightened in order that we may know the hope to which You have called us, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and Your incomparably great power for us who believe!

Sara, I really enjoyed meeting Teresa! I'm glad she wants to bring her family!! :)

I've been doing pretty good with my daily readings. Sermon prep through that off a bit, but I'm back on track now. I have also been messing with my rule of life. I think I have found a way to keep is simple and roomy, that is, not oppressive. I feel like there is some freedom in there for me to be creative with what I do. Okay, not sure if that makes sense.

Beth, thanks for the prayer you wrote. It's so simple ... we just want to know God better.

Lord, we have faith that you will sustain Your church. Let us attentive to Your Spirit and follow the lamb wherever He goes. Amen

I've been prepping for tonight and we are continuing talking about Sin. Timely, huh? The curriculum uses the prodigal son story focusing on the son who leaves--that he listened to voices that went against what God wanted. Of course, it also talks about Eve and the serpent. I think both of those illustrations fit but we talk about them a lot with the youth. May try and poke around at some more.

I am praying that God will grant me some wisdom with some upcoming choices I need to make. I want to be true to Him and honor Him and His plans for me.

I spent some time in Romans today. I am seeing the centrality of "the obedience of faith" (1:5) as language for the Christian life. I am also seeing how this is connected to the other central phrase in Romans, "the righteousness of God" (1:17). I also read Romans 5-8. This is Paul at his best (if you had to chose).

I took a moment yesterday to pray and read the Scripture outside, since it was so nice. Reading the Psalms aloud is a good thing, particularly Psalm 29.
